STAND+ (Formerly Gales®) Footwear - Standing Durability

Summary: STAND+ (Formerly Gales®) builds footwear for workers that spend long shifts on their feet. This study was designed to compare the functional comfort and performance of STAND+ footwear to athletic footwear that have been created for walking or running.Additionally, this test compares the cushioning before and after a simulated work shift (used condition).

Conditions: STAND+ footwear were tested for comfort, fit, pressure and impact during simulated and real-life 12+ hour work shifts.Tests were conducted independently by footwear testing lab Heeluxe, operated by physical therapist Dr. Geoffrey Gray - professional athlete rehabilitator.Machine tests adhered to ASTM F1976 impact testing and compared STAND+ footwear to a physical selection of top consumer athletic and work footwear SKUs + a database of over 400+ footwear SKUs. Human tests were conducted with 8 independently selected males, footwear size 10, during normal 12+ hour work shifts, using STAND+ footwear and 4 other top consumer rated athletic and work footwear SKUs.Tests were conducted December 2022 over a two-week period.

Results Summary: Comparing STAND+ to Athletic and Work footwear tested in this study:

·#1 Standing Durability – STAND+ footwear.

·#1 Softest Cushioning– STAND+ footwear.

oSTAND+ footwear cushioning improved over the simulated work shift and its foam compressed the least. All other footwear cushioning degraded.

·#1 Best Overall Fit in Forefoot and Toes - STAND+ footwear.

·#1 Lowest Heel and Forefoot Pressure - STAND+ footwear.

Conclusion: STAND+ footwear offers a high level of durability, comfort, fit, and pressure reduction, making them an ideal choice for workers who spend long periods of time on their feet.

Standing Durability - Force Vs. Energy Test Results:

Tested under ASTM F1976 Standards. Footwear in the upper left quadrant is deemed undesirable. Footwear in the upper right quadrant is firm with a high spring back, best for court sports.Footwear in the lower right is soft with a high spring, best for running.Footwear in the lower left is soft with energy absorption, best for active recovery, walking, and long-term comfort.

Energy Return is the amount of energy retained by the footwear and exerted back on the body.For sports where the desired outcome is forward propulsion, a high energy return is ideal.For walking, standing, and active recovery, high energy return is undesirable as it creates pressure exerted back on the body throughout feet, knees, back, and joints.

Conclusion: Test results place STAND+ footwear far left in the lower quadrant, making them ideal for workers who spend extended periods of time on their feet.

Force (N) compares cushioning from New to Used. STAND+ 1 cushioning improves during the work shift by 3%.Athletic 2 footwear has small change in cushioning, while Work 3 footwear has 7.2% worse cushioning at the end of the work shift.

Also of interest is the change in thickness (mm). STAND+ 1 lost the least thickness (0.86mm, 2.82%). Athletic 2 footwear lost 1.8mm (4.75%) and Work 3 footwear lost 3.38 mm (11.75%).

Conclusion: Athletic and Work footwear loses cushioning during 12-hour use, resulting in worsening cushioning throughout the day.STAND+ footwear has high cushion retention, with cushioning improving over a 12-hour period, making them ideal for professionals who work long shifts.

STAND+ 4 rated best fit in forefoot and toe comfort vs. 4 top rated Athletic and Work footwear SKUs.Heel fit was the same for STAND+ 4 and Work 3 and Work 6 footwear, tight in Athletic 2 and too tight in Athletic 5 footwear tested.

Fit in the forefoot is key for stability / feeling secure.When the forefoot is secure, toes can and should have wiggle room.

Conclusion: The best overall fit in forefoot and toe comfort is STAND+, resulting in a secure fit with breathing room around the toes.

STAND+ AntiGrav1 - Comfort Study

Summary: STAND+ builds energy dispersive footwear to dissipate force during long shifts. This study was designed to determine if STAND+ AntiGrav1 shoes reduce pressure and have softer cushioning vs. top rated workwear safety shoes and/or top rated athletic shoes with high energy return.

Conditions: STAND+ shoes were tested for pressure reduction and cushioning. Tests were conducted independently by footwear testing facility Heeluxe, operated by physical therapist Dr. Geoffrey Gray - professional athlete rehabilitator. Hulk Impact machine tests adhered to ASTM F1976 impact testing and compared STAND+ AntiGrav1 shoes to a physical selection of top-rated workwear safety shoes and athletic shoes + a database of over 400+ footwear SKUs. Tests were conducted June 2024

Results Summary: Comparing STAND+ to workwear safety shoes and athletic shoes tested in in this study:

My favorite part is the cushy material!

I am over weight and 58 years old. I have Diabetic Neuropathy and can not stand to have shoes tight across my toes. I was reduced to crocks... But lately I am having trouble with them staying on my feet. The Gales are shoes and the toe box is loose enough to limit pain. And with heel spurs... The spring in each step is so comfortable. I just ordered a second pair. THANK YOU GALES.

Walking on clouds

I have ''On- cloud'', ''Cloves'' and ''Asics'', and my gales are by far my most favorite so far. They have vents, so my feet do not feel sweaty, yet they are splash/fluid proof (C-Diff proof!!). These shoes are the most lightweight feeling, that put a spring in my step when walking. I highly recommend these for any healthcare professional, or service personal that will need a great new pair of non-skid shoes.

Love these shoes!

As a surgical resident, I get so much use out of these shoes. I was a little skeptical as they did squeak when I first put them on, but the squeaking has stopped and they are very comfortable for long shifts on my feet. I get so many compliments on these shoes and nurses/doctors asking where I got them. They also protect my feet and wipe clean really easily so I’m not afraid when I get blood/fluids on them. Have become my favorite shoes. Highly recommend!

Definitely will be getting another pair!!

2nd night in a row of wearing my Gales. Best purchase ever!! #1 reason is that my plantar fasciitis and knees didn't act up at all! (Wasn't walking like an old woman at work and actually able to get out of bed with no aches and pain) No break in period needed (brought other shoes just in case), shoes were very cushiony and true to fit.

The shoes are intriguing, but with the incredibly limited color design choices for the Antigravity 1 or 2, I just wasn't moved enough to buy. Cooler colors and color designs would have me pulling the trigger.

Very nice

I tried the original Gales and while they were a great cushiony shoe, they were quite narrow on my feet. This new Pro Line is great. The fit is much wider and roomier in general. No rubbing or squeezing. The all white color is perfect for my nursing school uniform requirement! Maybe they’re not the most stylish shoe you can buy, but I think they’re subtle enough and all we care about is comfort when at work. Very lightweight yet substantial - they aren’t cheaply made. The holes on the side allow for air flow to avoid sweaty feet. And there are no laces or books and crannies for fluids (or worse) to hide in. Easily wipeable. Very happy with the Pro Line and I’ve been recommending to all my fiends. Thanks Gales!

Even better than the Frontlines

I've been a Stand+/Gales supporter since they first launched. I've tried all their styles at this point, and am a repeat buyer of the Frontline style (4 pairs). I work 12-13hr shifts in a Veterinary ER, and the antigrav1 is just what I needed. The rubber on top is thick and easy to clean, so great for fluids, falling syringes, and unhappy animals. The vent holes on the side keep my feet cooler which is comfy, but the bottom sole is nice and thick so stepping in a puddle doesn't result in liquid coming in through the vent holes so my feet stay dry. I put these on straight out of the box and worked 12hrs for their inaugural shift. After 7 straight hours of standing, squatting, and walking, I realized I felt good. I wasn't near as tired, sore, achey or fatigued like usual.

I will say the way the back of the shoe is designed does rub my ankle a little bit and left a small sore, but it only happened on one foot one time so could have also been partially due to my sock bunching up or something. This style fits wider than the Frontline, but is pretty true to size so if you don't like your shoe being snug on top of your foot, I'd go up half a size. For reference I bought a womens 8.5 and my shoe fits my foot almost exactly. Previous styles I bought in a women's 9 because in an ideal world I'd like a little more room for thick/compression socks.

the best work shoes for long kitchen shifts: ANTIGRAV2

As a professional chef with over 20 years of experience working in the kitchen, I have tried numerous pairs of work shoes. The ANTIGRAV2 by Stand+ has truly impressed me. Working 10-12 hour shifts I used to experience significant left ankle pain by the end of the day. However, since switching to the ANTIGRAV2, that pain has completely disappeared.

These shoes provide excellent support and their nonslip works exceptionally well. The fit and feel of the shoes are top-notch, making long hours on my feet much more bearable. I highly recommend the ANTIGRAV2 for anyone in need of reliable and effective work shoes.

Best shoes ever!

I’ve been in healthcare for almost 20 years and could not find a shoe that I wasn’t moderately sore after spending all day on my feet. I’ve been wearing my AntiGrav 1s for a week, and they truly are the most amazing shoes. Not only are they lightweight, but they are SO easy to clean!! The best thing about them? After pushing my imaging equipment around all day, being on my feet, when my shift ends I have no pain in my feet or my back! When I get home, and kick off my shoes, I have no swelling like I would with other shoes. If you work in healthcare, these are a MUST! (Plus, this awesome Citron color gets them noticed and people asking about them!) Thank you Stand+!

CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!!

So I’ve totally jacked my feet up after 30 years in the restaurant game. I’ve spent more on inserts and trying the latest and greatest of anything out there claiming to help with plantar fasciitis. Some have been decent but most have been a bust after a week in the trenches of restaurant warfare.

My feet have been in constant pain for the past 6 months and I finally pulled the trigger on the AntiGrav2’s. I usually wear a 10.5 and ordered that size. Knowing that one foot is a little bigger than the other, 10.5 (I’m actually a 10) for the most part works perfectly no matter the brand.

When they arrived the right foot fit perfectly but the left was way too loose. I sent an email to customer service asking their opinion about what to do regarding the fit. They immediately sent out a pair of 10’s for me.

I’m one week in to wearing them and here’s what I experienced:

Day 1 Some residual pain in the balls and heels of my feet and expected tightness from the shoe material itself. Feeling hopeful as they are very lightweight.

Day 2-3 Foot pain gone. Seriously! GONE! Just a little rub across the top of only one foot as the shoes formed to my feet.

Day 4-6 AMAZING!! The non slip allows me to move around the kitchen and restaurant with ease and confidence, while the lightness does not tire out my feet after a 12 hour shift.

End of the day I put on my recover slides just to help pamper my feet. I’m blown away by these shoes and even more mind-blown by the help Molly and the rest of the team were with switching out the sizes.

I can’t thank you enough Stand+ as you have given me a part of my life back that I was ready to except was just the way it was. Now I can have longer safety meetings too! ;)

I’m a chef of over 20 years and I’m a big dude ,I’ve worn all the “comfy” shoes on the market . For the last 3 years Snibbs have been the best ,but lo and behold I find STAND+ . The ANTIGRAV2 is BY! far the most comfortable shoes I’ve worn ,EVER and I mean that . I stand on my feet 15+ hours a day , seriously no pain with these shoes . Modified, now I love them

I definitely love these shoes! They are comfortable, easy to clean, lite and easy to wear.

However I had to modify the shoe to make it more comfortable for my feet. I had to trim, (yes you read that right) the top of the shoe on the front

It was digging into the top of my ankle area. After I did that! They've been perfect.

I would definitely recommend them. But modifications might be need. I got the Pros because I have fat, wide feet.

I don’t like splurging on myself but working in the kitchen I need non slip support and I hate how uncomfortable crocs are. These are a game changer usually you don’t get non slip and comfort never mind I now have the coolest shoes in the restaurant. Definitely buy.

I love my new Pro Line Shoes! Wore them to my 8 hour shift and my feet (+ lower back) still felt great at the end. Love that the bottoms are rubber too for slip resistance because the floors at my work are often wet and slippery! These provided great traction. I ordered the white on white and have my eyes on the fun orange color next!
